Do i need a new processor?

My computers CPU starts off very high (100%-90%) but after my computer runs for awhile it starts to slow down. I got a 1 gb video card (Geforce GT 420) and 2 gb of ram. My processor is a AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+.
