When a cashier is super rude is it better to reflect the rudeness back at them or just be cheery?

There is a super rude one at the local vegetable mart - I try and not go there but the prices and quality is excellent even though the service sucks. I just want to get in and out, be friendly not chatty, and buy veggies without the mega dose of attitude.
