Which operating system is better for a gaming pc computer vista or windows 7?

Iv heard from some people that the windows vista is better for gaming pc's compared to the windows 7 because I heard some rumors that the windows 7 takes up too much ram and what not. Also I'm mainy using it for a video editing/gfx/ video rendering pc and also a gaming pc so is windows 7 better for gfx and video editing and worse for gaming or is vista better for editing/gfx and better for gaming or is windows 7 better for both or vista better or dose it not matter?
