Is my cpu bad my laptop screen wont come on no bios no flicker nothing?

I just bought a Gateway NV series laptop has Windows 7, Intel centrino 2.2 dual core cpu, 4 gigs 8500s DDR3 ram 500 gig Hard Drive and i got it for $60 cuz when u turn it on the power light comes on and the hard drive sounds the fan runs and the cpu barly warms up and there no flicker in the screen no change at all no sound when it boots like most up the Hard drive light does not come on and when i hook up a external screen nothing no flicker nothing. now the ram gets warm now when i put a p4 desktop cpu in it more lights come on the Hard drive light comes on and the screen trys to come on but it dont it flickers and goes back of. when i took the heat sink out it was stoped up prety good with hair and lint and dust i can take the heat sink of but the cpu dont get hot enough to make me take my finger of it. SO what do ya think and do yall think it was worth $60 even if i cant get it to work. i mean for the parts?
