Olive oil hair questions ?

okay . so i watched a video and it said put the olive oil in wet/ damp hair , NOT the roots , and leave in for an hour . is this correct cause i stared to do that but then i looked and i found a lot of different tips/how to and what not. but yeah should i leave it in for an hour ??
